About Rev. Dr. Gordon Smith

Gordon T. Smith is the President of reSource Leadership International, an agency that seeks to foster excellence in theological education in the developing world. He has previously served as the Vice President and Academic Dean of Regent College in Vancouver, Canada, where he also had a teaching appointment in Spiritual Theology (and he continues to teach part time at Regent). Gordon’s research, writing and teaching are in the areas of systematic and spiritual theology. His particular area of interest is the theology of religious experience and in this connection he has published a number of works such as A Holy Meal, Beginning Well, Listening to God in Times of Choice〔中譯:《聽主微聲•明主旨意》, The Voice of Jesus 〔中譯:《主的聲音》, and Courage and Calling〔中譯:《呼召與勇氣》〕.

What does it mean to speak of our work — particularly in the world of business and commerce — as the sphere of God’s transforming work in our lives?

This seminar will consider two inter-related questions. First, we witness to the glory and grace of God not merely at work but specifically through our work. Our work is the very means by which we bring praise to God and witness to the reign of Christ. Second, our work is a sphere of God’s redemptive work in our lives. Primarily through our work, rather than through religious activities at the workplace, God is at work forming us into the image of Christ Jesus. We will speak, then, of how work is an integral dimension of Christian spirituality.
